You are invited to celebrate the coming equinox and ongoing harvest at Cabot Shores as part of the Harvest of Peace festival on Sunday, September 24th, sponsored by the Good Health Festival Society and the Sydney Shambhala meditation group.
The Sydney Shambhala Meditation group is holding a traditional “Harvest Of Peace” here at Cabot Shores. It is open to all, regardless of where you come from, whether you meditate or garden or otherwise celebrate the equinox.
In the Shambhala tradition, this holiday is one of 4 celebrations marking the changing of seasons. A description of the purpose includes: “This special day marks the spirit of generosity, and sharing the bounty of the seasons together as a society. It is an opportunity for local communities to gather, hear teachings, enjoy good food and drink, appreciate one another, and celebrate the richness of our local cultures and heritage.”
In terms of the 24th, we are honored to have senior Shambhala teacher, Moh Hardin, who will be leading some teachings and other elements of the celebration which include:
2:15pm – Refuge Vows are given *
3:00pm – Lhasang Ceremony around the fire
3:30pm – Harvest of Peace Address by the Sakyong Wangmo
4:15pm – Potluck – please bring a favourite dish to share
