Keep things simple. And direct.

This is our guiding principle. Gate of Life Healing Arts are techniques and exercises created to help you achieve life balance. The serene setting of Cabot Shores provides the perfect surrounding to take a journey to inner peace.

Qi Gong

Based on Chinese Medicine, Qi Gong is a series of gentle exercises that aid in the movement of human life energy, also called Qi. The aim of these exercises is to limber up the joints, open up the breathing, focus the mind, stimulate circulation and increase a sense of well-being.  We offer complimentary Qi Gong sessions in the morning that usually last 15-20 minutes and are open to anyone. Please let Barbara know that you are interested in attending one night ahead of time. (Check for location of session.)

Mindfulness-Awareness Meditation

Meditation is an ancient practice in which helps to let go of habitual thinking. In the gaps between thoughts a sense of awareness naturally develops that allows for a fuller and richer experience of one’s mind. During these brief morning sessions you will be guided through mindfulness and contemplation practice. They are open to beginning as well as more advanced students. A great way to start the day! We offer complimentary meditation session in our cedar Meditation House. Please let Barbara know if you would like to join a session. By appointment we also offer longer individual sessions or incorporate them into an individual or group retreats.

Acupressure

At Gate of Life, massage includes both Zero Balancing (passive stretching) and Acupressure (manual pressure on acupuncture points instead of use of needles). This process releases healing forces within your body to relieve pain, headaches, tension and more. Cost: $75-$90 (sessions range from 50-70 minutes)

Five Element Acupuncture

Five Element Acupuncture is an ancient form of acupuncture that works by treating a person at the levels of body, mind, and heart or spirit. By placing very fine, sterile needles into points in different parts of the body, a person’s Qi, or life-force energy, is stimulated and encouraged to move in its proper fashion, thereby encouraging the healing process. Conditions that respond well to acupuncture include: GI and circulatory disorders, headaches, women’s health issues, allergies, muscle & joint pain, stress-related illnesses, and many others.

Uncomfortable with the idea of needles? Acupressure – the use of manual pressure, instead of needles, on acupuncture points can achieve comparable results. Enjoy this relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

Cost: $75-$90 per session (Sessions range from 50-70 minutes.)

Infrared Sauna and Ofuro Soaking Tub

The Infrared Sauna filters out UV radiation and only gives you the infrared, which raises your metabolism causing you to sweat which releases toxins as well as muscle tension. The higher body temperature helps lower blood pressure and increases blood circulation.

No matter what the weather is like, the Japanese Ofuro Soaking Tub lets you relax in warm water outside. Our Soaking Tubs are beautiful round wooden baths that can be heated with wood or propane or by solar. As they are your private tub and the water is changed on a daily basis, there is no need to use any chemicals.
