Fishing on Cape Breton Island

Cast Off Your Worries

Trout Fishing – Cabot Shores/Wreck Cove has a little pond for family trout fishing. One day they built the raft, the next day they fish for trout in water so clear you see the strike. More experienced anglers go the Highlands with native guides for trout and the occasional salmon. There’s “fish in them hills…” says John, a Cabot Shores guide. There’s also fly fishing for beginners and experts alike.

Winter Ice Fishing – Pick a spot, drill and fish. Near Cabot Shores there’s trout and smelt, depending on what is running (or who is sitting!).
