On January 20th, members, volunteers and friends gathered at the Dobson Yaught Club in Sydney to celebrate Velo Cape Breton’s 9th annual potluck & awards banquet.
A delicious spread was laid out for guests to enjoy while events from the past year were reviewed along with a look at the upcoming rides and events that are in the plans for 2012.

David Harris writes in USA Today Travel Tips of the attractions of Nova Scotia, from Halifax to the  Cape Breton Highlands.
Harris says that Nova Scotia has “fine and unique hotels,”  and then selects what he considers as the Best Rated Nova Scotia Hotels.
Cabot Shores is mentioned as one of three Nova Scotia best rated hotels, and the only one mentioned from Cape Breton Island.

Cape Breton heads to the top of BBC Travel’s list of the world’s best islands.
This year, it is only Santorini, Greece and Bali, Indonesia that are ahead
of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.  They highlight Cape Breton’s scenery–
the great views, the “cliff-backed beaches”, the forests– and the multi-cultural environment
of Cape Breton,  typified by local music and ceilidh.

Cape Breton Post Article on Charley Boorman

Laura Jean Grant wrote an article on Charley Boorman and lobster fishing adventures
in the Cape Breton Post.   It was great being on the boat with Charley and the Extreme
Frontier’s crew and the the MacInnis lobster fishing crew…and afterwards eating lobster and
plank salmon cooked here over a fire by chef Carl Nemeth.
