Wendy Gallant is the winner of our recent, “name the moose” contest, which took place just after a moose had been a field resident at Cabot Shores on and off for  a month, mostly in our apple orchard.
You may have seen her or read about her or seen her video.    And now she has a name…

What’s a good name for this Cape Breton Lady Moose visiting Cabot Shores?

Early Morning Moose

Barbara and I saw a whole bunch of deer while vacationing in Colorado and while we were away, therewere all kinds of stories (and a video) of a moose that’s been wandering around Cabot Shores…
Early this  morning I saw that  moose.    Somehow my dog Cosmo missed seeing lady moose and I quickly  escorted Cosmo back to Whiff’s Lodge, to avoid a chase.
Ten minutes later, I was surprised to see the moose standing like a statue in exactly the same spot.

Cape Breton fiddlers gather for Celtic Colours and Rosie Mackenzie (with partner guitarist
Johnny Muise) performed this year and then at Cabot Shores for the Breast Cancer Women Survivors’ Retreat.
They brought down the house with celtic music, a touch of country and some of their
own compositions.  The women sat spellbound and were charmed by the enthusiasm and warmth of
Rosie and  Johnny.
Rosie mentioned studying at the Gaelic College with the great Cape Breton fiddler and composer, Jerry Holland,
and also that she will  soon be in Europe performing and studying fiddling and “violin” (for some “classical lessons)
