                                       Intro to the Bistro

Comfortable dining opportunitiesThe Bistro offers great food–lobster and vegetarian and fire cooked meat and fish–in a friendly warm atmosphere where you can often enjoy live music, an outdoor wood-fired pizza baking experience or just sit on the extended deck, sipping a cool one and watching eagles fly overhead.

All in one place, the Bistro at Cabot Shores, where you can gather with friends and loved-ones or other interesting guests, to cherish the day.

Healthy, local foodDishes are fresh, slow-cooked and made to order. Seafood-centric  chef Carl is the son of a Nova Scotia fishery officer so he grew up with fresh catch and is fussy about healthy eating. We regularly serve local catches of lobster, crab, mussels, oyster and fish fresh from the ocean. We can also serve you a variety of meat dishes and have a delectable vegetarian and vegan menu (try our specialty Seitan stew with Shitake mushrooms), with recipes created and fine-tuned by Barbara’s.

Our fully-licensed bar offers local and imported wines, spirits and beers, including micro-brews. View our evening menu for more on our dining experience.

For breakfast, guests at Cabot Shores enjoy a full buffet of granola, eggs, bread, home-made muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice, tea and coffee. If you like, we can also provide you with trail lunches for your explorations along the Cabot Trail.

Organic homegrown tomatoes

Cabot Shores strives to use ingredients that are in their natural state, organic and local. Many of our vegetables and herbs are plucked fresh from our own organic garden, from our reclaimed apple orchard, or straight from the wild (such as wild berries or chanterelle mushrooms). What we do not grow ourselves is sourced locally in its natural, un-processed form. Our chefs also produce a variety of home-baked goods, including breads, muffins and desserts.

Cape Breton musicHeading our kitchen are experienced “outdoor chef” Carl Nemeth, and Gardener in Chief and vegetarian/vegan chef Barbara. On occasion, we welcome guest chefs who serve up their own secret (and delicious!) recipes: from Maria’s mean Italian pasta sauce, to John’s Native Mi K’maq Forsen’s bread or freshly caught trout, even for a Mi’kmaq breakfast, as you can see in this video.

We can also cater to larger groups, weddings, family reunions, educational groups, retreats, cycling tours, or other special occasions, and can work with groups to design a menu that is suitable for the dietary needs of their members. Contact us to find out more about our group catering.
